Questions about Porcelain Veneers
Aurora and Denver, Colorado
Are porcelain veneers the right smile makeover option for me?
At Aspenwood Dental Associates and Colorado Dental Implant Center, we never recommend cosmetic dentistry treatments without consulting with you in person. First, our Colorado dentists will want to make sure your smile appearance goals are in line with what the veneers can provide. Secondly, we will do a thorough oral health evaluation to check that your teeth and gums are strong and healthy. Keep in mind that porcelain veneers are primarily a cosmetic improvement. For teeth that are damaged, we may recommend a filling, dental crown, or other procedure to improve the function and strength of your tooth in addition to or instead of the veneers.
Are porcelain veneers an affordable cosmetic dentistry treatment?
The cost of your porcelain veneers may vary depending on the treatment that is involved. At our Aurora, Colorado dental practice, we aim to keep our treatments very affordable to patients in all income brackets. Our fees are very competitive and we offer several different payment options during your free porcelain veneers consultation, you can talk to our team about our fees and the payment options available to you.
How long will porcelain veneers last?
How long they endure will depend on your eating and brushing habits. With good care, porcelain veneers can last 10 years or longer.
Do veneers require special care?
You can brush and floss your new veneers just as you do your natural teeth. The veneers are stain-resistant and will not discolor as easily as other teeth. However, they can lose their brightness over time, so it is best to drink coffee, tea, or red wine in moderation. Our veneers are very durable thanks to a strong bond with your enamel, but they may chip or break if strained. Use caution when biting on extremely hard foods like toffee and avoid chewing on pens or other inedible objects.
How is the veneer procedure performed?
First, we will need to reduce the enamel in order to create room for the veneer. After a tiny amount is removed, the dentist will take an impression of your tooth. The impression is used to custom design your veneers. Using a strong bonding material, the veneer is affixed to the tooth. The bond is sealed with a special light, any excess bonding material is removed, and your tooth is cleaned and polished.
